Punakha Valley

 Balmy,lush landscapes of  The Punakha  is  approximately 1250 m altitude valley was the ancient capital of Bhutan, every November(on the first day of 10th month), the JeKhenpo and dratshang( central monk body) overnight here on their two day journey from their  summer  residence in Thimphu( capatel city) .The most famous places visited in Punakha are Chimi Lhakhang(monastery),Punakha Dzong(fort), Khamsum Yuelley Namgyel choeten( temple),Chorten neybu(monastic  school), Nunnery  ( monastic school for women), suspension Bridge..,

For adventures you can  mountain-bike for 27 Km loop oute from Khuruthang crosses the bridge there and heads up the east side of the valley along a feeder road to Samdingkha(14Km),then return along a trail to Punakha Dzong(7.5 Km), finally coasting back to Khuruthang along the paved road .For trek there is Samtangang trek for 3 nights four days and ends at teki zampa on a  east west high way.
