Is a bowl-shaped glacial valley on the western slopes of black mountain. Every winter from mid of oct the Black Neck cranes or Heavenly birds(known locally as throng throng kam) flocks here from Plateau of Tibet .it is one of the most importen wild life preserves area in the country.the Nakey chhu drains the marshy valley,famous places to visits are, Gangte Goemba( monastery school),Black-Necked Crane information center, Khewang Lhakhang( Old Temple),there’s some great hiking in the valley, Gangte Nature Trail(1 .1/2 hours).

For adventures you can mountain-bike for 27 Km loop oute from Khuruthang crosses the bridge there and heads up the east side of the valley along a feeder road to Samdingkha(14Km),then return along a trail to Punakha Dzong(7.5 Km), finally coasting back to Khuruthang along the paved road .For trek there is Samtangang trek for 3 nights four days and ends at teki zampa on a east west high way.
